The “before” kitchen

Here are the photos of our kitchen now. Ugggg. We can’t wait to tear this all out! Behind the wall where the refrigerator used to be, is a bathroom. The kitchen and bathroom will become ALL KITCHEN! Basically, where the bathroom sink is now (which you can’t see in these photos), our new stove will be in that spot. Stay tuned……..I will post more “before” photos as the demo begins. xoxo Traci

Inspirational Kitchens

Just a quick house update. Andrew Wallace, our General Contractor, is now back in town. We are meeting with him this week to review all the final costs, plus a “demo” start date. Hopefully the demo will start soon. Jed and I still have a lot of stuff to move out of the kitchen and one bathroom. As soon as we get this complete this week, I will post “BEFORE” home photos. In the meantime, here are some kitchens we love that we are using as inspiration for our new kitchen.

I love lighting!

One of the hardest things about remodeling is picking the all the lighting options. We are still trying to decide on our pendant lights for the kitchen, a dining room chandelier, and some for the new powder room. Here are just a few I have found. Enjoy!

Ummmm, How creepy are these!

wtf

Aren’t these candles creepy?

Regarding the house, hopefully we will start on the inside demo soon.  We now have a temporary kitchen set up in our second bedroom (thanks Mom!).  Our contractor, Andrew Wallace is out of town until mid July.  We will meet then about the final plans and start dates.  Jed and I still have a lot of decisions to make and things to pick out before everything is torn out so we will keep you posted. In the meantime, I will keep posting some interesting “house finds” on this site for your viewing pleasure!  Happy 4th of July!

p.s. We have hot water!

Interesting objects for your walls

Clothespin Wall hook from Chiasso

Cool light switches from Red Dot

Silver light switch from Red Dot

I noticed these light switches in a magazine from many years ago. They are meant to be an outdoor, weatherproof light switch, but I love them for indoors. I was finally able to find the manufacturer after many days of searching, along with Jed’s help. He is the master of search engines on the web!

Hand door knocker

Louis XVI door knocker

I love door knockers! I saw this one in a magazine a long time ago, then found one at The Old Home Supply House on College Avenue. They have tons of great vintage door knockers, handles, knobs, etc. at a wonderful price.  If you want the brand new one from above photo, check out E R Butler.

We may have hot water today!

Knox in sand.

Knox loved the sand in the back yard.

We have all new gas lines in place! YEAH! Gary who owns G & S plumbing was fabulous. It took a week for them to get through all the rock in our yard while in the heat of the summer. We did get our green tag from the city yesterday so Atmos should be out today to give us our gas meter back. It will be great to have hot water again. Jill & Brad may be more thrilled for us to have hot water again so I don’t keep running to their house for a hot shower. Jed doesn’t mind the cold shower but I do! Anyway, it is nice having your brother live only two blocks behind you.

We are on the third week of living without gas so cross your fingers we get this back today!
